Obituary for Kurtis M. Montgomery

Kurtis "Bean" M. Montgomery, of Palmyra, NY formerly of Groton NY died unexpectedly following an accident on November 17, 2022 in Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY.

Born October 16, 1996 in Cortland, NY he was the son of Roger and Elsie Heyn Montgomery.

Having graduated from Groton High School in 2014 where he had been on the wrestling and track team, he had always been one to march to his own beat and challenge life. He enjoyed making people laugh and listening to all kinds of music, and at one point he attempted the guitar but never mastered it. He found Legos to challenge him and he found peace in nature hikes and marveled at nature's gifts. The one thing that was his passion was spending time with family especially his nieces and nephews where they could always count on a fun time with Uncle Kurtis. Kurtis was employed with Manning Squires Henning and #435 Laborers Union out of Batavia, NY where he made many friends and showed what work ethics he had that continue to surprise them with his ability to manage heavy materials.

He is survived by his parents of Groton, maternal grandfather, Roman Heyn of Groton, his partner Kylie Ingram of Palmyra, his sister Lizzie Montgomery, brothers, Matt (Kimberly) Heyn of Locke and George (Billie Renee) Montgomery of Groton and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday November 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St, Groton. The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will at a later date in the Groton Rural Cemetery.
