Obituary for Evan R. Jehu Jr.
Evan R. Jehu Jr. 83 of McLean, New York died April 13, 2022 at Guthrie Cortland's medical center.
Born February 11, 1939 in Endicott, New York he was the son of the late Even and Alma Cartwright Jehu Sr.
Evan was a tax assessor for Tompkins County and had been involved in the Boy Scouts and Explorers. He enjoyed collecting toy trains and was interested in homesteading and gardening and raising chickens. He had also achieved at the age of 16 his pilot's license.
He is survived by his son, Jon David (Kimberly Alexander) Jehu of McLean, two grandsons, Jon Morgan and Gareth Jehu and a step granddaughter Patricia Schlenker as well as a sister Susan (Michael) Carlson of Sanford, North Carolina and Nieces & Nephews, Scott Ballweg, Las Vegas, NV, Tony Ballweg, Midway, GA, Amy Gage, Ankeny, IA, Nick Carlson, Burke, VA, Maggie Carlson, Apex, NC. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Ellen B. Tyler Jehu in 2017 and sister, Judith Anne Jeffries.
Memorial services will be held on May 7, 2022 at 2 PM at the Summerhill Baptist church at 425 Lake Como Rd., Cortland.
Memorial contributions may be made to local SPCA’s or CNY Living History Museum in Homer NY or to Summerhill Baptist Church.
