LANSING - Maxine M. Sill Flynn, age 92 of Lansing, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30th at the Groton Community Health Care Center after a short illness. Maxine was born on March 18th, 1928 in Syracuse, NY to her birth parents Florence & William Collins of Utica, NY and her adopted parents Martin J. Jones and Pearl L. (North) Potts. Maxine graduated from Lansing High School, Class of 194S. She was a homemaker, housekeeper, secretary for Security Mutual Insurance Company and Cornell University. Before her retirement she worked as a home health aide for Hospice Care, as she loved taking care of people. She was a sweet, strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. She enjoyed being a member of the Lansing Swinging Sweethearts where she played the piano, danced and sang with the group. She was a member of the Lansing and Groton senior citizens, where she enjoyed going on numerous trips with her dear friends. For many years she was a member of the Lansing/Genoa Rebekah Lodge where she held many titles. Maxine loved music, playing the piano, dancing, reading, crocheting, baking and decorating beautiful cakes, and traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all. Maxine is survived by her loving children, Larry Sill (Donna), Edwin Sill (Liz), Jim Sill (Cynde), Joy Santoro (Joe), and Jane Paige (Marvin). Her grandchildren, Todd Sill, Kristina Vanderwerf(Rob), Tom Paige (Mary), Tammy Paige-Parlett (Dave), Jeff Sill (Erin), Jessie Spitzer (Mark), Chad Sill (Monica), Clair Skotnicki, Michael Santoro (Emily), and Lindsay Santoro. Her great grandchildren, Deidre, Jenna and Bryant SiIl, Ally Tracy, Annabelle Vanderwerf, Jesse MacKenzie (Nick), Katelynn, Abigail and Nicholas Sill, Chase and Chelsa Skotnicki, Tyler McKoy, Brayden and Cannon Sill, Logan and Jack Santoro, Tony Paige, Christopher Parlett, and Tyler and Isabelle Paige. Her great great grandchildren, Finn Tracy and Madilyn Sill. Her stepbrother Marty Jones, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert F. Sill, Robert C. Flynn and Paul Smith, two sons, Thomas G. Sill and Albert (JR) F. Sill, Jr., granddaughter K,risten J. Santoro and a stepsister Julia Jennings. A special Thank You to the nurses and staff at the GCHCC for taking such good care of our beloved mother and grandmother. Per Maxine’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services. A private family graveside service in the North Lansing Cemetery will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at
