Clarence Elwood Raymond, Jr., 70, of State Route 38A, Moravia passed away at Auburn Memorial Hospital after becoming ill at his home on Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
“Jr.” was born March 1, 1949 in Syracuse, a son of the late Clarence E., Sr. and Beatrice Carpenter Raymond.
A lifelong resident of the Union Springs and Moravia area, he worked his entire life as an auto mechanic at a family run business, Ray's Auto Service in Union Springs and later at Roth Steel in Syracuse.
He was married to Geraldine “Gerri” Slater in 2002 and survives him.
In addition to his wife at home, he is survived by his children, Laura Hendrickson of Susquehanna, PA, Mary Ellen Schavemaker of Auburn, Tammy Raymond of Auburn, Elwood Rayond of Auburn, Edward Raymond of Moravia and Eric Raymond of Virginia. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him as well as his siblings, William Raymond, Seward Raymond, Kevin Raymond, Edward Eggleston, Ginger Raymond, Paula Gibble, Sheila Edwards, Jackie Andreson and Pamela Raymond.
In addition to his parents, he was per-deceased by a brother, Gaylord Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019, 1:00 p.m. At the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams Street, Groton with Pastor Dennis Grimes officiating. Spring interment will be in Kelloggsville Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
