Charles "Charlie" E. Dillon, 80 of Cortland formerly of Locke, NY died October 27, 2019 at the Cortland Park Facilty.
Born January 26, 1939 in Cortland, NY he was the son of the late Robert and Wilma Dillon Woolever.
Having grown up in the area, he was a 1958 graduate of Groton High school. He had enlisted in the US Navy and stationed aboard the USS ELOKOMIN serving  his country from 1959 to 1963. He had faithfully attended the annual reunions of those serving on the ship. Leaving the Navy he became employed  with UPS and he and his wife had owned and operated the Red Barn Ceramics in Cortland for over 31 years, where he made many friends.
He was active with the Locke Fire Dept. and was involved in many fund raising events. He was also a member of the Groton Horse Shoe Leaque.
He enjoyed many years of spending the winters in Florida where many family and friends came to visit.
He is survived by his sons, Shawn (Christy) Dillon of Farmington, NY and Charles (Sandra) Dillon of Wesley Chapel, FL. as well as 9 grandchildren (Samantha, Mathew, Chandler, Colyn (Maleena), Paige, Mia, Carter, Emma and Kerstyn) as well as great granddaughters, Persephone and Harlee Jade. Also surviving are his siblings, Barbarba Achlie of Kodak TN, and Stanley (Barbara)  Woolever of AZ. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years , Patricia A. French Dillon who died in March of 2019 .
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home 115 Williams St., Groton NY.  
Memorial contributions may be made to the Locke Fire Dept.
