Lois Marilyn  Ploss, 90 of Groton, NY formerly of Trumansburg, went home to the Lord surrounded by her family on October 21, 2019.

Born March 29, 1929 in Trumansburg she was the daughter of the late Karl and Mildred Edwards Ditzell.  Having grown up in the area she had attended Trumansburg school. Lois was always a hard worker. She started working at age eleven cleaning houses. She worked briefly at Cooper Brothers Leather Factory and the Ithaca Laundry before she married and embarked on a life dedicated to raising her family. She raised her four children Sharon Newton of Groton, Deborah (Dana) Cochran of Ithaca, Eugene ( Roxanne) Ploss of Groton and Raymond ( Kammy)Ploss of Cortland. Lois then enjoyed and nurtured all her grandchildren; Timothy, James, Kimberly, and Katrina  Newton. Dana Jr, Heidi, and Keith Cochran. Mathew Ploss. Nathan, Mariah, and Micah Ploss, and her 15 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, June Morrison, Robert, Marion and Dorothy Ditzell as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents , she was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Wilmer "Merle" Ploss and her brother, Leon Ditzell.
Lois had attended in her youth the Calvary Baptist Church in Trumansburg later followed by her involvement in Grace Baptist in Lansing and in her later years she attended the Peruville New Testament Church in Groton.
Lois was loved and was known to many as Grandma Ploss.  She was the iconic grandmother. She didn’t drive so she was always home. She was always there to answer the phone, to lend an ear, to welcome any visitor whether it be a friend or stray (cats or people). She was always there to keep a close eye on all the neighborhood activities, and earned the nickname of Grandma Moccasins as she was always there when  least expected. She was known far and wide for her cooking especially her Sunday Dinners. She loved her gardens, her berry picking, her canning and freezing and her family all reaped the benefits.

She enjoyed playing board games and the challenge of putting puzzles together.  She was one whose quick wit and sense of humor will be missed much by many.

Services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Peruville New Testament Church and the family will receive friends , noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.  Interment will held at a later date at the Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
