Obituary

Carl A. Alexander, 91, of Cortland, formerly of Groton passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse after a lengthy illness.

A lifelong resident of the Cortland – Groton areas, he married Mary Jean Palmer on August 1, 1953. Together they owned and operated Alexander’s Dairy & Egg Farm on Route 222 in Groton for over 50 years until their retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean at home; his sons, Neal (Cheri) of Groton and Ralph (Judy) of Pine Valley, NY; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by a son, Paul in 2014 and two brothers, Harold and Lester.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 17th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams Street, Groton. Private interment will be in McLean Cemetery.

To Carl's Family, I am so sorry to hear of Carls' passing. I enjoyed chatting with him on the occasions that I would be at the farm when Paul and PJ had goats there. Carl loved making wooden yard decorations and I am glad that I have a set of reindeer and sleigh that he built. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. God bless. Debi Howe
