Obituary

Barbara A. O’Sullivan, 61, of Elm Street, Groton passed away December 5, 2018 at the Groton Community Health Care Facility after a lengthy illness.

She was born June 14, 1957 in Malone, NY, a daughter of the late John F. and Catherine A. Madden O’Sullivan.

Barbie graduated from Groton Central School in 1975.  An active member of the Groton community, she always had a smile on her face and loved to talk with people where ever she went.  She was an avid collector of angels and Celtic memorabilia.

She was a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, active in the Altar and Rosary Society, sang in the choir and was a Eucharistic minister.  Barbie spent many hours volunteering at the Groton Nursing Home, comforting the residents for many years and had worked at Hallmark in Ithaca and at the Groton Public library where she fueled her love of reading.

She is survived by her siblings, Catherine Shorr of Sarasota, FL, Maureen O’Sullivan of Santa Monica, CA, John O’Sullivan of New York, James O Sullivan of Minneapolis, MN, Michael O’ Sullivan of San Clemente, CA and  William O’Sullivan, of San Francisco CA., as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Monday, 10, 2018, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St., Groton, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, December 11, at St. Anthony’s Church in Groton with burial to follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Church or the Groton Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund.
