Obituary for Marilyn J. Cole (Dyer)

Print
Marilyn J. Cole, 76, of Groton passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a lengthy and hard-fought illness.

Marilyn was born September 12, 1942 in Kingston, NY, a daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Freer Dyer.

A resident of the area for most of her life. She worked at Cortland Memorial Hospital for many years and later at SUNY Cortland until her retirement in 1996.  She also enjoyed helping and taking care of others. Even if that workload seemed too much, she still helped, that was just who she was.  She had a love for doing crafts and sharing them with family and friends, as well as at local events in the community.

Marilyn was a member of the Post #800 Ladies Auxiliary, spending many hours at the Legion helping out any of the organizations in any way possible.  She was always doing something to assist and will be missed there.

She is survived by her husband, Nathan Edward Cole at home; her children, Danny Rowe (Rita) of Cortland, NY, Penny Stewart (Steven) of Lancaster, SC, Lesa Perry (Michael) of San Diego, CA, Kristi LaRiche (Ray) of Naples, FL; a brother Charles Dyer of Endicott, NY, a sister Delores Dyer of Homer, NY; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her twin sister, Maureen Miner, and her step-son, Tommy Cole.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, October 30th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the American Legion Home, Main Street, Groton.  Private interment will
be in Groton Rural Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.

The family would ask for people to consider donating to the Groton Fire Department Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 96, Groton, NY 13073 or the Ladies Auxiliary, 307 Main St., Groton, NY 13073.
